What is C&I energy storage used for?
- Peak shaving: reducing contracted capacity and demand charges.
- Higher self-consumption: storing PV production for afternoon and evening load instead of exporting it.
- Adding storage to a PV plant: with an export limit the surplus is not lost (for example Bordány – fruit-processing plant).
- Scheduled charging and discharging (arbitrage) with a time-of-use or spot-price-linked tariff.
- Reserve and power quality: short bridging, voltage support, combined with a genset for longer outages.
How big a system do you need?
Typical C&I sizes: 100–250 kW / 200–500 kWh (one all-in-one cabinet), 500 kW–1 MW / 1–2 MWh (several cabinets or one container), 1–5 MW / 2–10 MWh (containerised systems). Sizing is based on the 15-minute load profile, the PV output and the tariff – we calculate it during the consultation.
What makes the storage actually work? The control.
Many installed systems run at low utilisation because they have no site-tuned logic. The BST Control Box continuously monitors electricity prices, the load profile, PV production and grid limits, and decides on charging and discharging accordingly. BST Control Box details →
What equipment do we build it from?
- All-in-one cabinets: CATL EnerOne+, EVE 261 kWh, Sunnic 125 kW / 254 kWh, Delta DELTerra C.
- Containerised storage: CATL TENER, EVE Mr. Giant, Sunnic EnerX.
- PCS / inverters: Sinexcel, Kehua, Delta – string and central versions.
- Control: BST Control Box (ComAp InteliNeo) – this performs the daily optimisation.
